Team ParaCheer GB is made up entirely of Paralympic-eligible athletes and has been created to help get cheerleading recognised as a Paralympic sport. For nearly a year, we’ve been exploring what’s possible, and now we’re ready to take the next step: showcasing our abilities on the world stage and inspiring other countries to get involved. We’ll be doing this at the ICU Worlds in Orlando, Florida. To make it happen, we’re raising funds to support this showcase, as well as our ongoing training and development.
The Challenge
We aim to cover the distance from Stoke Mandeville Hospital, Buckinghamshire, UK, to SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, USA—a total of 5,496.4 miles.
This is a Team Challenge for athletes, coaches, and supporters alike. Anyone who wants to contribute miles - whether by walking, running, swimming, cycling, or rolling - is welcome to join us.
Why this distance?
Stoke Mandeville Hospital is the birthplace of the Paralympic Games, while SoFi Stadium will host the opening ceremony of LA28. These two locations represent the heart of the Team ParaCheer GB journey.
Our ultimate goal is to be invited to LA28 to showcase our routine - a dream that drives this entire project. Like many things in the world of disabled sport, there are obstacles to overcome along the way, but each mile we cover brings us closer to that dream.
From the pioneering games at Stoke Mandeville in 1948 to the global stage in Los Angeles, these two locations symbolise the journey from possibility to achievement. Together, we’re turning that dream into reality.
